Too often we spend too much time looking at the person who has more than us, and forget to look at what’s right in front of us. We stare too long at that door and hope and pray it opens for us too. The only thing we end up feeling is emptiness and a sense of worthlessness, which creates the perfect opportunity for Depression to set in. we start neglecting what is important in life because the thought that “u’ll never catch up” to the one more fortunate, is always lurking somewhere in your mind. You tell yourself that this is all there is to life.

With open mouths and wide eyes, we continue to stare above and don’t think to look down for a second.

We only start to truly appreciate what we have, when we see what others don’t have.

Suddenly all our ‘wants’ and ‘needs’ and ‘have to haves’ don’t seem so important anymore. The ‘tiny’ four bedroom house doesn’t look too bad after all. the clothes we wear, the cars we drive and the small luxuries we enjoy becomes a blessing and we start to appreciate what we have, because, truly, as clichéd as it may sound, there are people less fortunate than us.

But how can we know this, if we are too busy looking at what we don’t have.

Look up and draw inspiration from those more fortunate, but also look down and learn to appreciate what you have right now. If we are not happy with what we have right now, we will never be happy with what we think we want in future.

“it is better to present yourself at a funeral and absent yourself from a wedding, because a funeral reminds you of what you leave behind in this world, and a wedding reminds you of worldly things ”
